Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Announces MDCAT Date (Updated 2024)

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided that the written examinations of MDCAT for the year 2024 will be held on August 27th, 2023. These tests will be conducted under the 18th Amendment, with each province being authorized to conduct the written examinations under its own CBLIS. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, chaired by President PMDC Dr. Rizwan Taj. The examination will be conducted on the pattern of the previous year and each province will be authorized to conduct the examinations under its own syllabus. In Sindh, it has not yet been decided whether the MDCAT exams will be held under Dow University or Jinnah Sindh Medical University. This decision is expected to be made by next week.

Syllabus and Pattern

According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the written entrance test for MDCAT will be conducted on the pattern of the previous year. Seats Composition in Sindh

In Sindh, a total of 2450 seats are reserved for MBBS in government medical colleges. There are 12 government medical colleges across Sindh, including Karachi, as well as 7 government dental colleges and 6 government medical universities.

  • Dow Medical College, Karachi: 350 seats
  • Dow International Medical College: 150 seats
  • Jinnah Sindh Medical University: 350 seats
  • Liaquat Medical University Jamshwar: 250 seats

  • Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chand College Larkana: 250 seats
  • People’s and Yemen Nawabshah Medical College: 250 seats
  • Khairpur Medical College: 100 seats
  • Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Lyari Medical College: 100 seats
  • Ghulam Mohammad Mehr Medical College Sukkur: 100 seats
  • Gambit Medical College: 100 seats
  • Bilawal Medical College for Boys Hyderabad: 100 seats
